Freedom of Information Law (F.O.I.L.)

The Village of Chester Police Department is committed to open government and will release all public information to the extent that the law allows.

Residents requesting reports or information may complete a F.O.I.L. request at the station anytime or choose a form below to complete and submit via email, fax (845.469.5009), mail or bring it into the station or fax it to , or you may mail it to:

Fees

Fees for photocopied reports are twenty-five cents (.25) per page up to 9″ X 14″ or the actual cost to reproduce the requested records i.e., those that cannot be photocopied such as electronic records.  If the department is incapable of reproducing the record due to technology limitations or for large requests, there may be an additional charge based on the actual cost of employing an outside service to reproduce the record.

We are always on-duty but if you do come to the station and find the front door locked, please pick up the direct dial phone to the left of the front door and you will be automatically connected to the communications center.  They will radio a patrol to meet you.

Once we receive the request you will be notified when the information is ready. (usually within 5 business days).
